After completing an 8-2 month of January with a 68-51 win over Merrimack College, the Bentley University women’s basketball team will make its February debut on Saturday tied for first in the Northeast-10 Conference and two victories shy of reaching 20 wins for the 27th time in 29 years.

The Bentley University men’s basketball team will continue its bid for a seventh Northeast-10 Conference regular season championship in eight years Saturday afternoon when the Falcons host Saint Anselm College. Tip off at the Dana Center is at 3:30 pm, following the 1:30 pm women’s game.

Bentley University freshman Nadine Edwards (Danbury, Conn./Danbury HS) broke her own school record twice while winning the gold medal in the 500 yard freestyle during the first day of competition in the 2012 Northeast-10 Conference Women’s Swimming and Diving Association Championships Thursday at Southern Connecticut State.

Bentley University senior Mike Walsh (South Salem, N.Y./John Jay HS) turned in an outstanding effort to easily capture the gold medal in the three-meter diving Thursday afternoon during the first day of competition in the 2012 Northeast-10 Conference Men’s Swimming and Diving Championships at Southern Connecticut State University.

Sophomore Brett Gensler (St. Charles, Mo./Youngstown Phantoms) was named the Atlantic Hockey Player of the Month for January after racking up seven goals and nine assists in 10 games, the league announced Wednesday. Freshman Alex Grieve (Calgary, Alberta/Westside Warriors) was chosen as the Rookie of the Month.

Tip-off is set for 7:30 pm.

Senior guard Sylvonya Moore (Stockton, Calif.) put up 21 points, nine rebounds and three steals, and sophomore forward Moni Smith-Ocran (Bronx, N.Y.) added 16 boards and a dozen markers, as Southern Connecticut State finished strong for a 63-59 win over Bentley University in a battle of Northeast-10 Conference women’s basketball elite Saturday afternoon at the Dana Center.

Koury (Red Bank, N.J./CBA) combined for 27 off the bench, as Bentley University used 15 three-pointers to shoot down Southern Connecticut State, 80-75, in Northeast-10 Conference men’s basketball Saturday afternoon at the Dana Center.
