Sideris Named to NFHCA Division II All-America Team
WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University field hockey standout midfielder Stephanie Sideris (Watertown/ Watertown HS) has been selected for the 2011 Longstreth All-America team by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association.
"Nobody has had a bigger impact on our program over the last four years than Stephanie," said coach Jessica Spencer. "She was our best player with the ball and also an outstanding defender. She truly deserves this recognition and the whole team and the coaching staff is very excited for her." The three-time first-team All-Northeast-10 Conference honoree recently concluded her career by leading the 2011 Falcons in scoring with 15 goals and nine assists for 39 points. Included was a six-goal, 13-point effort against Southern Connecticut State in her final regular season game as a collegian.
Sideris' 39 points was the most by a Bentley player since Mary Rogers, also a former Falcon All-America out of Watertown, had 42 in 2006. She ranked fourth in the NE-10 in assists, fifth in points and sixth in goals, and nationally, was eighth in Division II in assists per game and 11th in both goals and points per game.
Sideris finished her career tied for tenth on Bentley's all-time scoring list with 31 goals and 25 assists for 87 points.
Bentley concluded the 2011 season with a 9-9 record.
