    Bentley University guard Mike Quinn (Oakdale, Conn./Montville HS) was recently named to the Academic All-Northeast-10 Conference men’s basketball team. It’s the fourth straight year that he has been so honored.

  • Bentley Men Host High-Scoring Bloomfield Tonight with Elite Eight Trip Awaiting Winner

    Four months and three days after opening the season against Bloomfield College, the Bentley University men’s basketball team will square off against the Deacons again tonight at the Dana Center, this time in the championship game of the NCAA Division II East Regional. Tip-off is set for 8:30 pm, after the Bentley women play their own regional final against Pace University at 6 pm.
  • Bloomfield Denies Bentley’s Bid for 4th Elite Eight Trip in Five Years, 75-71

    Bentley University’s visions of a fourth trip in five years to Springfield and the NCAA Division II Men’s Basketball Elite Eight were ended by Bloomfield College Tuesday night at the Dana Center. Instead, the 75-71 Bloomfield victory will send the streaking Deacons (nine consecutive wins) to the Elite Eight for the first time. In fact, it’s the first time any Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference team has advanced that far in the national tournament.
  • Bentley Seeks Two Regional Championships, Can Make NCAA History Tuesday Night

    Since the inception of the NCAA Division II Women’s Basketball Championships in 1982, no team in what is currently the East Region has captured both the men’s regional championship and the women’s regional championship in the same year. That could change Tuesday night when Bentley University plays for both crowns at its own Dana Center. The Falcons will take on Pace University at 6 pm in the NCAA Division II Women’s Basketball East Regional title game and will play Bloomfield College at 8:30 pm in the Men’s regional final.

Post Saturday evening at the Dana Center.

Over the last month, the College of Saint Rose has been the hottest team with Monday’s 92-82 quarterfinal playoff win over Saint Anselm College extending the Golden Knights’ winning streak to eight. The Falcon women dropped from first to second after Saturday’s 90-87 overtime loss to Franklin Pierce, which is ranked number three this week.

    Senior guard Tom Dowling (Rockville Centre, N.Y./South Side HS) converted a three-point play with 7.8 seconds left to give Bentley University a hard-fought 52-51 win over Stonehill College and sole ownership of the 2010-11 Northeast-10 Conference men’s basketball regular season championship. A standing-room only crowd packed Stonehill’s Merkert Gym Wednesday night for a contest that saw 13 lead changes, seven ties and neither team having a lead bigger than six.

    Graduate student Mike Quinn (Oakdale, Conn./Montville HS) matched his season-high with 16 points, including the 1,000th of his career, and senior forward Brian Tracey (Bow Mar, Colo./Heritage HS) finished with 17 points and 10 rebounds for his fifth double-double of the season as Bentley University clinched a share of the Northeast-10 Conference men’s basketball regular season championship. It’s the sixth time in seven years that coach Jay Lawson’s team has finished at the top of the conference.
