Junior forward Tim Beinert (Bellerose Village, N.J.) and junior guard Ryan Rozsnaki (Montreal, Quebec) each posted double-doubles and Assumption College’s other three starters all scored in doubles as the ninth-seeded Greyhounds topped number eight Bentley University, 78-65, in the opening round of the Northeast-10 Conference Men’s Basketball Playoffs Friday night at the Dana Center.

UMass-Lowell Rallies in Second Half to Top Bentley, 85-76
Senior Dipanjot Singh (Evanston, Ill.), a transfer from Illinois-Chicago, erupted for 27 points, including 15 in the first half to keep his team close, as UMass-Lowell overcame a five-point halftime deficit to defeat visiting Bentley University, 85-76, in Northeast-10 Conference men’s basketball Tuesday night at Costello Gym. It was the regular season finale for both clubs.

Senior guard Andre Tongo (Acton) and junior guard Brian Hamor (Guilderland, N.Y.) combined for 32 points, with each connecting three times beyond the three-point line, as Stonehill College shot down Bentley University, 81-55, in Northeast-10 Conference men’s basketball Saturday afternoon at the Dana Center. It was the final home game of the regular season for the Falcons.

Bentley Closes Out Home Schedule vs. Stonehill
When Bentley University and Stonehill College last squared off in men’s basketball, the Bentley Falcons overcame an 18-point second-half deficit and eventually pulled out a 73-66 double-overtime victory on the road. The two clubs will renew acquaintances on Saturday at Bentley’s Dana Center, with tip-off for the Falcons’ final home game of the regular season set for 3:30 pm.

Strong starts to each half by Southern New Hampshire University propelled the Penmen to a 76-66 win over Bentley University in Northeast-10 Conference men’s basketball Saturday afternoon at the SNHU Fieldhouse and gave the Falcons their first three-game losing streak in two years.

Bentley University senior guard Sam Leclerc (Fayette, Maine/Winthrop HS) scored 23 of his game-high 28 points in the second half, but St, Michael’s College escaped with the win, 66-64, on a tip-in by senior forward Tyler Schilling (Excelsior, Minn.) with eight seconds left in Northeast-10 Conference men’s basketball action at the Ross Sports Center Wednesday night.

One of the strengths of this year’s Bentley University men’s basketball team has been its ability to quickly get back on the winning track following a loss. A Falcon victory in the ensuing game has followed each of the team’s first five losses. Coach Jay Lawson’s team will again be looking to avoid dropping back-to-back games when it makes the trek to Colchester, Vt. to take on St. Michael’s College Wednesday night (7:30 pm).

The Bentley University Falcons, coming off their sixth Northeast-10 Conference regular season championship in seven years, have been picked second in the 2011-12 NE-10 men’s basketball preseason coaches poll, announced today by the conference office.
