WALTHAM, Mass. – Former Bentley University All-America and 2010 NABC Division II Player of the Year Jason Westrol was taken in the seventh round of Thursday night's NBA D-League Draft by the Iowa Energy.
Westrol, who played in Romania last year, helped Bentley to three NCAA Division II Elite Eight appearances during his four years in a Bentley uniform. He averaged 21.1 points and 5.2 rebounds as a senior in 2009-10, and finished his career as the number two scorer in the program's history, with 2,068 points. During his four years, the six-foot-three guard helped Bentley to a record of 118-16.
Training camp for Iowa begins Nov. 14, and first-year head coach Kevin Young will have about a week-and-a-half to prepare his team for the Nov. 25 season-opener and to pare the roster from 16 players to 10.
