    With the triumvirate of senior Ryan Richmond (Toronto, Ont./Thomson Collegiate), junior forward Chris Hudson (Hodgdon, Maine/Northampton Williston School) and sophomore guard Colton Lawrence (Myerstown, Pa./ELCO HS) combining for 78 points, the undefeated Bentley University Falcons overcame a nine-point second-half deficit for an 89-83 victory over Southern New Hampshire Wednesday night at the Stan Spirou Field House.

    Through seven games, all five starters for the Bentley University men’s basketball team are scoring in double figures while shooting at least .500 overall and .400 from three. The Falcons are outshooting the opponents 53-40 percent and are averaging 7.7 more assists. With numbers like those, it’s not surprising that the Falcons sport a 7-0 record, including 4-0 Northeast-10, and a number 14 ranking in this week’s NABC Division II national coaches poll. They’ll put the unblemished records on the line Wednesday night when they travel to Manchester, N.H. to take on Southern New Hampshire University at 7:30 pm.

    The Bentley University Falcons and the Jefferson University Rams have been two of the top teams in NCAA Division II East Region men’s basketball during the opening couple weeks of the season. Bentley won its first four, including two against Northeast-10 Conference opponents, and Jefferson is an overtime loss to Saint Anselm College away from a 5-0 start.     For the second straight year, Bentley University is ranked number one nationally in the latest NCAA Division II Academic Success Rate report, which was announced today. Bentley, with its highest ASR in the 13 years that the NCAA has been compiling the data, was alone at the top of the rankings, two points above the five institutions tied for second, after sharing the top position a year ago. This was the fifth straight year that Bentley has achieved an ASR of 97 or better and the eighth straight they’ve been above 90.
