Steve Silverthorn
Title: Asst. Hockey Coach

Steven Silverthorn enters his 2nd season on head coach Ryan Soderquist's staff for the 2016-17 season and works primarily with the team's defensemen and goaltenders.

Silverthorn comes to Bentley with extensive coaching and playing experience. His previous stop saw him serve as a volunteer assistant and goaltending coach with Brown University for two seasons. He has also worked with USA Hockey, with his primary role being evaluating and selecting players to attend USA Hockey's National Camps. Prior to his time at Brown and with USA Hockey, he was a player-assistant coach with the Texas Brahmas in the CHL.

Silverthorn played collegiately at Colgate University, where he was a four-year goalie who played in 100 career games. He finished his career with the Raiders having gone 55-30-9 with a 2.22 GAA and .914 save percentage. As a senior, he went 24-10-3 with a 1.88 GAA. Silverthorn was named the team's Defensive Player of the Year three times and was twice a All-ECAC Honorable Mention.

After graduating from Colgate in 2005 with a degree in political science, Silverthorn continued his playing career for several more seasons. He suited up with the Idaho Steelheads in the ECHL, the Iowa Stars in the AHL and in the German Bundesliga. Silverthorn is a native of Owen Sound, Ontario.
