Men’s Lacrosse Picked Fourth in Northeast-10 Preseason Poll
WALTHAM, Mass. – With the start of the regular season a little more than a month away, the Northeast-10 Men's Lacrosse Preseason Coaches' Poll has been released, and Bentley is picked fourth, behind Adelphi, Le Moyne and Merrimack.
The Falcons went 7-7 overall last season and 7-3 in the NE-10 for a fourth-place finish, which took them to the postseason for a fourth straight time and 10th time in 11 years. 10 seniors from that team graduated, but head coach Jim Murphy, now in his 19th season, brings back a talented roster. Seven of the top-eight scorers are back, led by senior Brendan Grant (Walpole, Mass./Xaverian Brothers). Senior Keegan Haynes (Beaverton, Ore./Valley Catholic) returns to lead a young defense.
Adelphi, which won the NE-10 championship last season and advanced to the NCAA championship game before losing to Mercyhurst, claimed the top spot in the preseason poll with 99 points and nine of 11 first-place votes. Le Moyne, which won the NE-10 regular season title last year, is second with 91 points and one first-place vote, followed by Merrimack with 83 points and the other first-place vote. Bentley came in with 70 points and Saint Michael's is fifth with 63 points.
The rest of the poll has Assumption sixth (49 pts), Pace seventh (40 pts), Southern New Hampshire eighth (39 pts), Saint Anselm ninth (33 pts), Franklin Pierce 10th (28 pts) and AIC 11th (10 pts).
Bentley opens the regular season at home against C.W. Post on March 10.
