Syracuse, N.Y. – The Bentley men's soccer team fell to a red hot Le Moyne team in its regular season finale on Friday afternoon by a score of 5-1.
It's the 8th match in a row unbeaten for the Dolphins and their 4th win in a row. They came into the game on the heels of a 4-3 win over No. 9 ranked Adelphi on Tuesday.
Le Moyne forward Marek Weber, the NE10's second leading goal scorer on the season, scored his 16th and 17th goals of the season in the first half to lead the way. Another forward, Salar Faryar, netted his 14th goal of the season in the first half.
Bentley's Peter Clifford (Arlington, Mass./Arlington) pulled a goal back in the 75th minute for the Falcons. Off a corner kick by Diego Lombardi (Guatemala City, Guatemala), the ball was headed forward by Jake Acker (Hanover, N.H./Hanover), and Clifford pounced on the pass and scored from close range.
For the Bentley, the defeat snaps its four match unbeaten streak. A win would have given them a chance at qualifying for the NE10 playoffs. Their record moves to 6-6-4 overall and 4-6-3 NE10.
