WALTHAM, Mass. – The Bentley University men's tennis team swept the Northeast-10's weekly awards this week, as junior Jimmy Rindo (Lowell, Mass./Lowell) was named Player of the Week and freshman Kamil Pilch (Wroclaw, Poland/IMG Pendleton) earned Rookie of the Week honors.
Both performed well at the Quinnipiac Invitational last weekend as the Falcons competed against players from six Division I schools in several different singles and doubles tournaments.
Rindo won the A singles consolation tournament, beating Chris Nelson of Quinnipiac (9-8 (5)) and Nick Sharwacks of Hartford (8-6) to reach the finals. In the finals he defeated teammate Rodrigo Ribeiro (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Chapel School) 5-3.
Pilch took the title in the B singles consolation tournament. He beat Hartford's Alex Holdskic (8-3) in the quarterfinals, Quinnipiac's Fahoum Fahoum (8-5) in the semifinals and Bryant's Dana Parziale (9-8 (5)) in the finals.
Both also had success in doubles over the weekend. Pilch and Ribeiro advanced to the semis of the A tournament with two wins. Rindo and Alex DeMuth (Shaker Heights, Ohio/University School) made it to the finals of B consolation tournament with two victories.
Rindo is the second Falcon this fall to be named the NE-10's Player of the Week, joining Ribeiro, who won the award on Oct. 2.
The Falcons have one match left this fall, which is Friday at home to Saint Anselm.
