WALTHAM, Mass. – The Bentley men's tennis team won its third straight match Wednesday afternoon, knocking off American International 6-3.
The Falcons won two of three doubles matches, enabling them to take a 2-1 lead into singles play. Senior Andrew Waddington (Granby, Conn./Granby Memorial) and freshman Chase Rosa (Hampton, N.H./Berwick Academy) won the No. 2 match, defeating James Worrall and Boris Tiberkov 8-2. Bentley also took the No. 3 match, with junior Peter Koopman (Whitinsville, Mass./Whitinsville Christian) and freshman Jerry Liang (Shanghai, China/Shanghai American) beating Alfie Cleave and Timothy Zoma 8-4.
In singles play, the No. 3-No.6 matches went Bentley's way. Sophomore Kamil Pilch (Wroclaw, Poland/IMG Pendleton) was a 6-1, 6-0 winner over Gustavo Franceli in the No. 3 spot, while Rosa took his second match of the day, 6-0, 6-3 over Worrall.
Sophomore Evan Chomka (Warwick, R.I./Bishop Hendricken) defeated Cleave 6-0, 6-1 in the No. 5 match, and junior Alex DeMuth (Shaker Heights, Ohio/University School) got the better of Jason Popek 6-0, 6-1 in the No. 6 match.
Bentley will go for its fourth straight win on Thursday afternoon in a non-conference match against Eckerd at home.
