Edelmann has led the men's team to the NE10 Semifinals in each of his first five seasons, and has led them overall record of 63-42 and 28-17 in NE10 matches since taking over. He guided the women's team to the 2014 NE-10 Playoffs in his first season, and in 2016-17, while also helping the team establish a new program record for wins in a season with 15, achieved each of the last two years.

Edelmann has coached numerous All-Conference selections from both teams during his time at Bentley, and both of his squads excel academically and are regularly among the most well represented on the ITA Scholar-Athlete teams.

Edelmann was announced as the head men’s and women’s tennis coach at Bentley on December 17, 2013 with a resume that includes over 20 years of experience as an NCAA tennis coach. He came to Waltham after five-plus seasons as the head men's tennis coach at Boston University.

His tenure at Division I Boston University included being named the 2010-11 America East Coach of the Year. That season he led the Terriers to a four-win turnaround from the previous season and an appearance in the America East Tournament semifinals. Edelmann led BU to the America East semis in three of his five full seasons and a fourth-place finish in the 2009-10 campaign.

Prior to coaching at BU, Edelmann was the head coach of the men’s team at Amherst College for three seasons (2004-07), and the head coach of the men’s and women’s teams at Northeast-10 rival Merrimack College for 11 seasons (1989-2000). At Amherst, he led the Lord Jeffs to three straight appearances in the round of 16 of the NCAA Division III Tournament, while two of his players earned All-America honors. He was named the 2007 NESCAC Coach of the Year.

His tenure at Merrimack saw him earn Northeast-10 Coach of the Year honors with the men’s team in 1992 and 1999 and with the women’s team in 1995.

Edelmann’s career in intercollegiate athletics has also seen him serve as the Director of Tennis at Florida Tech from January 2003 until July 2004, and at Merrimack from July 2000 until January 2003. He also served as an Assistant Director of Athletics at Merrimack during that time.

Edelmann has also been a member of various tennis committees throughout his career. Among them, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association’s Division III Rankings Committee from 2006-2008, the NCAA Division II National Selection Committee from 1998-2003 and the NCAA Division I Northeast Regional Rankings Committee.

A 1987 graduate of Saint Michael’s College, Edelmann played all four years for the Purple Knights and was their captain and team MVP as a senior. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Saint Michael’s.
