CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Bentley University senior Mike Vatti (Easton, Pa./Easton HS) completed his collegiate career in impression fashion Saturday, helping the Falcons score in three events during the final day of the New England Intercollege Men's Outdoor Track Championships at MIT's Steinbrenner Stadium.
After qualifying for the finals on Friday, Vatti finished seventh in both the 200 and 400 meters. His time of 48.95 seconds in the 400 was a personal best, and he ran the 200 in 22.03.
Vatti was also part of two relays that earned spots on Bentley's all-time top ten. He helped the Falcons to an eighth in the 4x100 and a 12th-place showing in the 4x400. Junior Bryan Carton (Norwell/Norwell HS) ran a leg on both, with the 4x100 also including sophomore Eric Kennedy (West Hartford, Conn./West Hartford HS) and junior Derek Sit (Wellesley/Wellesley HS). Carton and Vatti were joined on the 4x400 by senior Andrew Gauthier (Dracut/Central Catholic HS) and freshman Mark Nelson (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla./Pine Crest School).
Bentley's 4x100 time of 42.65 was the program's best in ten years, and the third best in school history, while the 3:21.55 in the 4x400 was good for sixth on the all-time list.
Kennedy also scored for the Falcons on Saturday, placing eighth in the 800 in 10.99 seconds.
In the 3,000-meter steeplechase, junior Craig Robinson (Scarborough, Maine/Scarborough HS) was 17th in 9:39.36.
As a team, Bentley was 24th overall with 10 points, the Falcons' highest total since 2003.
