HOPKINTON, N.H. – The top finishers for the Bentley University men's cross country team during Saturday's Bruce Kirsch Country Classic were senior Cody Murphy (Dunbarton, N.H./Goffstown HS) and junior Tom Abraham (Lowell, Mass./Lowell HS).
Competing at the Hopkinton State Fairgrounds, which will be the site of next month's Northeast-10 Championships, Murphy was ninth with an 8,000-meter time of 25:53.1. He was nine seconds out of the top five and trailed the winner, Franklin Pierce's Riley Fenoff by about 35 seconds.
Abraham placed 28th in 26:43.4.
In the team standings, Bentley was seventh of 11 with a score of 191. Southern Connecticut State easily ran to victory with the Owls' 29 significantly better than Southern New Hampshire's 73.
All 11 teams, along with Adelphi, Pace, Le Moyne and American International, will be back at the same site Nov. 4 for the NE10 Championships.
