Returning to the Capital District for the first time as a collegian, sophomore second baseman Erica Thibodeau (Cohoes, N.Y./Shaker HS) had three hits and three RBI to lead Bentley University to a 4-2 win over The College of Saint Rose in the first game of a Northeast-10 Conference softball doubleheader at Cathy Haker Field Sunday afternoon.

Ford Homers Twice, Powering Le Moyne to Doubleheader Sweep of Bentley, 8-0 & 6-1
Junior first baseman Leah Ford (Pulaski, N.Y.) homered in both games and drove in a total of four runs as Le Moyne College swept Bentley University, 8-0 and 6-1, in a Northeast-10 Conference softball doubleheader Saturday afternoon at the Niland Athletic Complex. The first game was halted after the Dolphin lead reached eight in the sixth inning.

The site for the Bentley University softball doubleheader against St. Michael's on Wednesday has been changed. Originally scheduled to be played in Vermont, it will now be played at Bentley, with the first pitch scheduled for 3 pm.

Senior Kelsey Griffin (Scarborough, Maine) and freshman Dolores Mattice (Schenectady, N.Y.) each pitched a two-hit shutout with double-figure strikeouts as Southern New Hampshire University swept Bentley University, 4-1 and 5-2, in Northeast-10 Conference softball action at Bentley Tuesday afternoon. Junior catcher Megan Blier (Wells, Maine/Wells HS) had two of Bentley's four hits, including a home run.

Junior center fielder Meghan Carter (Hudson, Mass./Hudson HS) drove in two runs in each game and junior Tara Fogarty (Chester, N.Y./John S. Burke HS) continued her strong pitching as Bentley University recorded non-conference softball victories over New York Tech, 8-0, and St. Michael’s, 5-1, Friday at the National Training Center. The New York Tech game was stopped after six innings.

Fogarty Shutout Gives DeGregorio 500th Career Victory
Bentley University softball coach Michele DeGregorio reached the 500 career win club Monday afternoon when her team defeated Nyack College, 3-0, on the strength of the second shutout in three days by junior pitcher Tara Fogarty (Chester, N.Y./John S. Burke Catholic HS). The win was the second of the day for the Falcons, who rallied for a 6-5 win over the University of Bridgeport earlier in the day.

Sunday wasn’t a great day for the Bentley University softball team, with the Falcons losing twice at the National Training Center. The Falcons fell to Molloy College, 10-0, in a game stopped after five innings and were edged by Seton Hill University, 4-2.

Bentley’s Athletic Success Carries Extends into Classroom
The 2009-10 academic year saw Bentley University capture Northeast-10 Conference championships in four sports, be represented in the NCAA Division II championships by teams or athletes in six sports, and finish in the top three in the Northeast-10 President’s Cup standings for the 24th straight year. But Bentley’s success doesn’t stop there. It carried over into the classroom where the Falcons also distinguished themselves.
