WORCESTER, Mass. -- Senior center fielder Ashley Clark (Pawtucket, R.I.) hit a two-run homer and junior right-hander Kendal Roy (Grafton) pitched a four-hitter as Assumption College blanked Bentley University, 6-0, in Northeast-10 Conference Northeast Division softball Wednesday afternoon at Marois Field.
Roy's second shutout of the season saw her walk three and strike out five, including four looking. She improved to 7-6 on the year.
The Greyhounds took a lead they would never give up in the bottom of the first. After a single and two walks loaded the bases, a sacrifice fly by junior second baseman Nicole Duplease (Leominster) brought in Clark with the game's first run. The throw in from the outfield was errant, allowing a second run to score on the play.
Clark's home run made it a 4-0 game in the fourth and the Greyhounds (9-11, 3-1 Northeast) closed out the scoring with another two-run inning in the sixth.
Clark was the only Greyhound with multiple hits, finishing 2-for-4, while freshman catcher Jillian Parinello (Jackson, N.J./Jackson Memorial HS) had two of the Falcons' four safeties.
Bentley (6-13, 0-4 Northeast) will begin a three-game series at Franklin Pierce Friday at 3 pm.
