Fast Start Propels Bentley to 61-37 Win over Bishop’s in Exhibition

WALTHAM, Mass. – Sophomore guard Katie Meriggioli (Waunakee, Wisc./Edgewood HS) scored eight of her 12 points in a first quarter that ended with Bentley University in front 23-2, and the Falcons went on to post a 61-37 win over Bishop's University (Canada) in a women's college basketball exhibition game Thursday night at the Dana Center.

Bentley, which outscored the Gaiters 11-0 over the opening six minutes, was led in scoring by senior post Victoria Lux (Arundel, Maine/Thornton Academy). She scored 16 points and also had seven rebounds and three steals in 21 minutes of action.

The Falcons also received 11 points from senior guard Megan Lewis (Sevenoaks, England) and nine from sophomore forward Marissa Fontaine (Franklin/Bishop Feehan HS).

The Bentley defense held the visitors to 23 percent shooting and only two three-balls in 21 attempts.

Bentley will tip off the regular season at Merrimack College Nov. 9-10.
