WALTHAM, Mass. – Junior Taylor Bastien (North Kingstown, R.I./North Kingstown) broke an eight-all tie with 31 seconds left to lift Bentley to a 9-8 victory over New Haven in the quarterfinals of the Northeast-10 Women's Lacrosse Championships Wednesday night.

The win puts fourth-seeded Bentley into the NE-10 semifinals for the first time since 2007, where they will face top-seeded Le Moyne in Syracuse on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. The victory was also Bentley's 13th of the season, which ties the program record. Fifth-seeded New Haven's season comes to an end at 13-5.

Bentley never trailed in this game, and led from the 21:02 mark of the first half all the way until there was 2:01 remaining in the contest, when New Haven senior Ashley Ferrandiz scored a man-down goal to tie the score at eight.

The Falcons won the ensuing draw control, but turned the ball over, only to get it back seconds later after the Chargers turned it over on the clear attempt. After a foul on the Chargers' Kerri Foley with 37 seconds left, Carolyn Kynoch (Ashland, Mass./Ashland) fed Bastien the ball on the restart, and she beat goalie Maureen Spellman for her third goal of the game with just over a half-minute left.

Bastien then won the draw control and Bentley was able to run out the clock for the win.

The Falcons led by as much as 5-1 with 9:11 left in the first half after a 4-0 run, but New Haven chipped away at the deficit by scoring three of the half's last four goals to make it 6-4 for Bentley at halftime.

Bentley went up 8-5 with 12:49 left in the game on sophomore Jackie Brown's (Brookfield, Conn./Brookfield) second of the night. New Haven's Alexis Gabbe got them to within two on a man-up goal with 10:02 to play, and after a scoring drought of almost seven minutes, freshman Kathryn Campbell made it a one-goal game with another man-up goal with 3:51 left. Ferrandiz scored to tie the game 1:40 later.

New Haven outshot Bentley 24-17 on the night, but Falcon goalie Ally Dorman (Simsbury, Conn./Simsbury) came up with eight saves.
