WALTHAM, Mass. – A two goal, one assist performance by junior Stephanie Helin (Manchester, Conn./East Catholic) led the Northeast-10 Conference to name her its Women's Soccer Player of the Week on Monday.
Helin had a hand in all three Bentley in goals in its 3-0 win over American International on Saturday in the team's first NE10 game of the season.
She had the assist on the first goal with a cross from the right wing, scored by Alyssa Valente (New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan) in the 12th minute, for a 1-0 Falcons lead.
Helin then scored herself in the 30th minute to make it 2-0 after she finished from close range off a pass from Kelly Donlon (Meriden, Conn./Francis Maloney), and scored again in the 50th minute for a 3-0 lead with a volley off a cross by Emma Guccione (Holliston, Mass./Holliston).
Through three games so far, she leads the team with seven points, from two goals and three assists.
Bentley improved to 2-0-1 and 1-0 NE10 on the season with the win. They are back on the field Wednesday night with a trip to Merrimack.
