  • Varsell Earns 1st-Team Capital One Academic All-America Honors for 3rd Time; Dooley & Higgins Also Honored

    Amy Varsell (Burlington, Conn./Lewis S. Mills HS), the most decorated student-athlete in Bentley University women’s track history, and Bentley cross country standout Tara Dooley (Lee/Lee HS) have been selected for the 2014 Capital One NCAA Division II Academic All-America® Women’s Track & Field and Cross Country team by the College Sports Information Directors of America. Coach Kevin Curtin’s team was also represented on the Capital One NCAA Division II Academic All-America team in men’s track and cross country with recent graduate Conor Higgins (Randolph, N.J./Randolph HS) receiving third-team recognition.

    On the women’s side, the top performance came from sophomore Sarah Brennan (Quincy/ Notre Dame Academy) in the 5,000 meters. She finished 16th of 24 overall with her time of 18:32.53 a new PR by 28.5 seconds and the fifth best in Bentley history.

Mills HS) is now a six-time Northeast-10 Conference champion after running to victory in the mile during the 13th annual NE-10 Championships Saturday at the Reggie Lewis Center. Her night also included a second-place finish in the 1000 meters.
