Fahey Turns In Strong Performance at Codfish Bowl, Placing 19th Overall

BOSTON, Mass. – Bentley University junior Caitlin Fahey (Bridgewater/Coyle-Cassidy HS) turned in another strong performance for the Falcons' women's cross country team, placing 19th overall in a field of 251 runners at the 32nd annual Codfish Bowl Saturday at Franklin Park.

Fahey posted a time of 19:36 over the 5,000-meter course.

Bentley's next two runners across the finish line were freshman Ashley Nichols (Kenmore, Wash./Inglemoor HS) and senior Evelyn Marrero (Amsterdam, N.Y./Amsterdam HS). Nichols was 28th in 19:53 and Marrero placed 63rd with a time of 20:47.

As a team, Bentley finished eighth among 23 teams with a score of 234. The Falcons, who were ranked second in the NCAA Division II East Region this past week, trailed three Division II squads: Stonehill, Adelphi and Merrimack.

Katie Matthews, running unattached, was the first runner across the finish line, breaking the tape in 17:38. Rosa Moriello of Boston University, third overall, was the number one collegian with a time of 18:25.

Boston University edged Stonehill College for the team title, 47-50.

Bentley's next race is the New England Championships on Oct. 8. That meet will also be held at Franklin Park.
