CROFTON, Md. – Led by sophomore Tommy Ethier (Nashua, N.H./Bishop Guertin HS) and senior Doug Kulikowski (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford Sutherland HS), the Bentley University golf team closed out the regular season in impressive fashion Tuesday, by capturing the Crofton Invitational for its second straight tournament victory.

Bentley, ranked fourth in the NCAA Division II East Region, turned in a 54-hole team score of 892 to finish nine strokes in front of Atlantic Region number two Indiana University (Pa.). The Falcons had the low score in all three rounds with a 302-296-294.

Bentley and IUP were two of six regionally-ranked teams in the tournament, which was hosted by California University of Pennsylvania and played at the par-72, 6,905-yard Crofton Country Club. West Chester, number seven in the Atlantic, was third with a 906 and Wilmington, tenth in the East, was fourth with a 915.

Ethier, the tournament runner-up with a 54-hole score of 216, finished with a three-under 69, matching the best third-round score. He opened with a 74 and followed with a two-run 70 during Monday's second round. Ethier, for the second straight round, had five birdies, including three on the four par-fives.

Kulikowski followed his teammate in third place, with a six-over 72-74-76. His tournament included nine birdies, including two on the final round.

Bentley also received a strong showing from senior Chris Simione (Cheshire, Conn./ Cheshire HS). He tied for seventh place in the 48-player field with a 75-74-76-225.

Finishing in the middle of the pack was sophomore Ellis Yoder (Fort Wayne, Ind./Homestead HS), who tied for 24th with a 78-78-79-235.  Junior Robert Falconer (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley HS) had a strong third round with a 73.

The medalist was IUP's Matt Cocorikis, with a 75-70-69-214, two strokes better than Ethier.

The field for the NCAA Division II East/Atlantic Regional will be announced Friday evening. The regional will be played May 9-11 at the Totteridge Golf Club in Greensburg, Pa.
