MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – Senior Brennan DaCosta (San Diego, Calif./Westview) scored the only goal of the match in the 74th minute as Bentley defeated Barry University, ranked sixth in the South region by the NSCAA, 1-0 Saturday night in non-conference men's soccer.
The victory gives Bentley (3-0, 1-0 NE-10) its best start to a season since 2008 when they also were 3-0. Barry falls to 1-2 on the season.
DaCosta's goal came off a header in the six yard box, with freshman Stephen Silva (Suffield, Conn./Suffield) on the assist. It was DaCosta's third goal in as many matches after missing nearly all last season with an injury, and the first career point for Silva.
Senior goalie Alex Pilitsis (Brunswick, Maine/North Yarmouth Academy) made three saves for the Falcons to earn the win, his third of the year.
Bentley is back in action Tuesday for another non-conference match, this time at home against Bridgeport at 3:30 p.m.
