Bentley finished sixth in both relays, with times of 1:28.38 in the 200 yard free relay and 3:37.88 in the 400 medley. In each, freshman Philip Chan (Wilmette, Ill./New Trier HS) led off and was followed, in order, by junior Joe Frantel (Canandaigua, N.Y./Marcus Whitman HS), freshman Steve Sylvia (Westerly, R.I./Westerly HS) and senior Egen Ouellette (West Hartford, Conn./Conard HS).

In individual events Friday, Chan was seventh in the 50 freestyle (22.42) and sophomore Tyler Champagne (Orange, Conn./Amity Reg. HS) was eighth in the 500 free (4:54.65).

The championships will run through Sunday with preliminaries at 10 am and finals at 6 pm both days.
