CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Sophomore Eric Kennedy (West Hartford, Conn./Northwest Catholic HS) and junior Craig Robinson (Scarborough, Maine/Scarborough HS) turned in winning performances while competing for the Bentley University men's outdoor track and field team during Saturday's MIT Invitational at Henry Steinbrenner Stadium.
Kennedy had the best day of his career while finishing first out of 32 competitors in the 100 meters and third of 53 in the 200, with both performances personal bests. His time of 11.08 in the 100 elevated him to number three on Bentley's all-time list and his 22.25 in the 200 ranks fifth in Falcon annals. Also in the 200, junior Bryan Carton (Norwell/Norwell HS) set a PR of 22.59 seconds.
Robinson captured the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 9:42.21 with the top five also including freshman Ned Furtney (Canton, Conn./Canton HS) and senior Gabe Campbell (Queensbury, N.Y./ Queensbury HS). Furtney (a PR 10:27.64) and Campbell (10:36.64) were fourth and fifth, respectively.
In addition to Kennedy, freshman Nikos Devletoglou (Athens, Greece) earned a spot on Bentley's all-time list with his height of six feet, five inches in the high jump third best all time. He was also third, in a field of 10, in the meet.
Freshmen Chris Ricci (Coventry, R.I./Bishop Hendricken HS) and Kyle Sullivan (Burlington/ Burlington HS) both set PRs in the javelin while placing fifth and eighth, respectively, among 12 competitors.
Junior Grant Nolan (Concord, N.H./Concord HS) was third of nine in the 400 hurdles (59.52) and Bentley had three sixth-place finishes. Those were posted by Carton in the 400 (51.09), freshman Anthony Charter (Hubbardstown/Quabbin Reg.
