Alatalo & Haas Top Runners for Bentley During Codfish Bowl

BOSTON, Mass. – Three freshmen were the top finishers for the Bentley University men's cross country team during the 45th running of the Codfish Bowl Saturday at Franklin Park.

Setting the pace were Eric Alatalo (Wilmington/Wilmington HS) and Nik Haas (Ramsey, N.J./ Ramsey HS). Alatalo was 36th overall with an 8,000-meter time of 27:22, and Haas took 47th in 27:46.

Bentley's number three man was Tim Bolick (Hopkinton/Hopkinton HS), whose father Paul is a member of the Bentley Athletic Hall of Fame. He placed 54th in 28:08.

As a team, Bentley was sixth out of ten overall, and fifth amongst eight collegiate teams, with a score of 178. UMass-Lowell claimed the team championship after finishing 22 points in front of second-place Stonehill College, 38-60.

Robert Allen, running unattached, was first to the finish, winning by ten seconds in 25:54. Former Bentley Academic All-America John Drago, competing for New Boston Balance, was fifth with a time of 26:17.

Bentley will be back at Franklin Park for the New England Championships Oct. 12.
