Waltham, Mass. – Sophomore Cara McCarthy (Salem, N.H./Central Catholic) scored 1:31 into overtime to give No. 23 Bentley a come from behind, 12-11 victory over No. 17 NYIT on Saturday.

The Falcons trailed 10-5 just before the mid-point of the 2nd half, but outscored the Bears 7-1 the rest of the way to improve to 2-0 (1-0 NE10) on the season. NYIT falls to 2-1 on the season.

In overtime NYIT won the first draw control for the initial possession, but a caused turnover and ground ball pickup by defender Kate Schmal (Saint James, N.Y./Smithtown East) gave Bentley the ball. They pushed the ball downfield, and the finish by McCarthy from close range gave them the win.

Sophomore Julia Glavin (Ipswich, Mass./Ipswich) scored four of Bentley's six goals during the comeback, which included three in a row in a span of less than three minutes. A free position, man-up goal by Jillian Lynch (Wilton, Conn./Wilton) cut the deficit to 10-9 with 12:35 remaining.

NYIT's Madisyn Hausch scored at the 11:19 mark to give the Bears an 11-9 lead, but that was their final goal of the game. Sophomore Claire Thompson (Slingerlands, N.Y./Guilderland) scored at the 5:47 mark, and Glavin tied it with 47 seconds in regulation with her 7th goal of the night, a new career high,

Glavin had three goals in the first half, and freshman Caroline Boudreau (Foxborough, Mass./Foxborough) had Bentley's other goal. Goalie Eliza Bresler (Newton, Mass./Newton North) had a big first half with 11 saves.
