  • Academic Excellence for Bentley Men's and Women's Track

    Three members of the 2012-13 Bentley University track and field teams have been accorded All-Academic status by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). They are rising senior Eric Kennedy (West Hartford, Conn./Northwest Catholic HS) and recent graduates Caitlin Fahey (Bridgewater/Coyle-Cassidy HS) and Amy Varsell (Burlington, Comn/Lewis S. Mills HS).
  • Varsell & Drago Receive NE-10 Sport Excellence Awards for Outdoor Track

    Amy Varsell (Burlington, Conn./Lewis S. Mills HS) and John Drago (Avon, Conn./Avon HS), a pair of recent Bentley University graduates who are both two-time Capital One NCAA Division II Academic All-America® honorees, have been selected as the 2012-13 Northeast-10 Conference Scholar-Athlete Sport Excellence award winners for women’s and men’s outdoor track, respectively.

    Bentley University track standout Amy Varsell (Burlington, Conn./Lewis S. Mills HS) has been selected to the 2013 Capital One NCAA Division II Academic All-America® Women’s Track and Cross Country first team, becoming only the second athlete in Bentley history to earn first-team Academic All-America recognition twice. Also receiving Academic All-America honors was teammate and classmate Caitlin Fahey (Bridgewater/Coyle-Cassidy HS), who was voted to the third team by the members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Mills HS), have been selected for the 2012-13 Capital One NCAA Division II Academic All-District 1 track and cross country team by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

    For the fifth time in her amazing career, Bentley University senior Amy Varsell (Burlington, Conn./Lewis S. Mills HS) has earned All-America honors. The latest award came Saturday evening when she placed seventh in the 1500 meters during the 2013 NCAA Division II Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Championships at the Neta and Eddie DeRose ThunderDome on the campus of Colorado State University-Pueblo.

    Bentley University senior Amy Varsell (Burlington, Conn./Lewis S. Mills HS), a four-time All-America in the 800, had the number one qualifying time in the 1500 meter prelims late Thursday afternoon during day 1 of the NCAA Division II Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Championships, setting a facility record in the process.

  • Three Bentley Runners Earn All-East Recognition

    Three members of the Bentley University outdoor track and field teams have been selected for Division II All-East Region honors by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association, with all three earning the recognition in two events. They are seniors Caitlin Fahey (Bridgewater/Coyle-Cassidy HS) and Amy Varsell (Burlington, Conn./Burlington HS), who were recognized in both the 800 and 1500 meters, and freshman Edy-Elliot Uthman-Olukokun (West Warwick, R.I./West Warwick HS), in the 100 and 200 meters.

    Bentley University seniors Caitlin Fahey (Bridgewater/Coyle-Cassidy HS) and Amy Varsell (Burlington, Conn./Lewis S. Mills HS) will be headed to Pueblo, Colo. to participate in the 2013 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships, which will be hosted by Colorado State University-Pueblo at the Neta and Eddie DeRose Thunderbowl May 23-25.

    For the fifth time during her impressive career, Bentley University senior All-America Amy Varsell (Burlington, Conn./Lewis S. Mills HS) earned All-New England honors, the latest coming with a strong performance in the 2013 New England Outdoor Track and Field Championships Saturday at Stonehill College’s W.B. Mason Stadium.
  • Farley Places 5th in 10K at New Englands; Pratt Moves to #2 on Bentley’s All-Time List

    The Falcons’ top finisher on the women’s side also came in the 10,000, with junior Ashley Nichols (Kenmore, Wash./Inglemoor HS) ninth of 23 overall, and third among Division II runners. She finished in 39:39.16. Bentley’s only PR achieved Friday was posted by freshman Kendal Pratt (Topsfield/ Masconomet Reg. HS) in the 400 meters. She was seventh among Division II competitors and 22nd overall, but her time of 58.23 seconds vaulted her to number two on Bentley’s all-time list. It improved on her previous best by 1.28 seconds.

Mills HS) were the first two across the finish line in the 800 meters Saturday during the final day of the 2013 Northeast-10 Conference Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Championships at American International College.

Mills HS) finished 1-2 in the 1500 meters Friday during the opening day of the Northeast-10 Conference Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Championships at American International College, with both breaking the meet record set by Varsell a year ago.

Mills HS) each improved on their NCAA provisional qualifying times while finishing 1-2 in the 1500 meters during Friday night’s Stonehill Invitational in women’s track and field action at W.B. Mason Stadium.

    On the women’s side, senior All-America Amy Varsell (Burlington, Conn./Lewis S. Mills HS) established a season-best in the 800, 2:20.46. That was good for 34th of 39 in a predominantly Division I field. Varsell also ran Friday night, provisionally qualifying for the NCAA Division II Championships in the 1500.

    Bentley University senior Caitlin Fahey (Bridgewater/Coyle-Cassidy HS), following an impressive performance in the Raleigh Relays at North Carolina State, has been named the Northeast-10 Women’s Track Athlete of the Week. It’s the third time this year she’s been so honored, the previous two coming during the indoor season. Also recognized by the NE-10, as Men’s Relay Team of the Week, was the Falcon quartet of freshman Sean Nee (West Yarmouth/Dennis-Yarmouth Reg. HS), junior Conor Higgins (Randolph, N.J./ Randolph HS) and seniors John Drago (Avon, Conn./Avon HS) and senior Craig Robinson (Scarborough, Maine/Scarborough HS).

    Bentley University junior Ashley Nichols (Kenmore, Wash./Inglemoor HS) moved to number two on the program’s all-time list in the 10,000 meters and four of her teammates recorded the second best 4x800 time in Falcon history as the Bentley women’s outdoor track team completed action at the Raleigh Relays Saturday at North Carolina State’s Paul Herr track.

    Bentley University senior Caitlin Fahey (Bridgewater, Mass./Coyle-Cassidy HS) led her heat in the mile for virtually all of the first six laps, but tailed off late to finish 16th of 17 overall in the preliminaries of the mile Friday evening at the NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field Championships at the CrossPlex Complex.

  • Nichols and Sacco Post PR's During New Englands

    On the women’s side, new personal bests were achieved by junior Ashley Nichols (Kenmore, Wash./Inglemoor HS) in the 5,000 and freshman Dusty Rose Sacco (Pompton Lakes, N.J./Pompton Lakes HS) in the 800. Nichols was 23rd in 18:22.97, good for fourth in Bentley history and fifth among Division II participants. Sacco was the number two Division II finisher and 25th overall with a 2:26.04.
