PROVIDENCE, R.I. – An outstanding senior year for Bentley Universtiy's Caitlin Fahey (Bridgewater/Coyle-Cassidy HS) continued Sunday as she broke a school record while winning the 1500 meter run at the Brown Springtime Open.

Fahey, with a clocking of 4:29.43, broke the record set by classmate Amy Varsell (Burlington, Conn./Lewis S. Mills HS) in the same meet at year ago by 0.34 seconds. It also bettered her previous best of 4:30.38, set Friday night at the Stonehill Invitational, by 0.55 seconds, and moved her from 13th to tenth on the NCAA Division II performance list.

In the race, Fahey finished 1.02 seconds in front of runner-up Bree Shugarts of Brown. Varsell was sixth, in 4:35.48.

Senior Craig Robinson (Scarborough, Maine/Scarborough HS) qualified for next weekend's Northeast-10 Championships in the steeplechase, with his time of 10:01.71 good for second place.

Bentley was represented in the field events by sophomore Tatiana Froehlich (Newton, Mass./ Newton North HS) and junior Aubrey Batzinger (Wallingford, Conn./Lyman Hall). Batzinger set a PR in the hammer, with her throw of 98 feet, five inches good for sixth place, and was 11th in the discus (104'2").
