SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Sophomore Marianne Bartolotta (Wantagh, N.Y./Holy Trinity HS) and freshman Stephanie Mattson (Smithfield, R.I./Smithfield HS) had the highest finishes for the Bentley University women's track and field team during the Yellow Jacket Invitational at American International College Saturday.

Bartolotta improved on her personal best by more than ten seconds while placing fifth among 67 runners in the 1500 meters, finishing in 5:00.52. She was one of four Falcons to finish in the top 18 with the others all seniors. Samantha Albanese (Lynnfield/Lynnfield HS) was 13th (5:10.30), Anna Pickett (Schenectady, N.Y./Guilderland HS) followed in 15th (5:12.44, a PR by 13.78 seconds) and Arianne Bourgault (Fitchburg/Fitchburg  HS) was three places later in 18th (5:13.36, a PR by 28.71 seconds).

Mattson turned in the meet's fifth best long jump, clearing 16'7.25" while competing in a field of 36. She also moved to number five on the season's Northeast-10 Conference performance list in the 400 meters, as well as tenth in program, in the 400 with a time of 60.51 seconds. That was good for tenth among 36 runners.

Season-bests were posted by senior Dusty Sacco (Pompton Lakes, N.J./Pompton Lakes HS) and Olyvia Leahy (New Bedford/New Bedford HS). Sacco was 16th of 51 in the 1500 (2:27.34) and Leahy 13th of 30 in the 100 hurdles (17.30).

Bentley totaled 8.5 points in the meet, placing 17th of 21 teams.

The next action for the Falcons will be the Silven Invitational Friday and Saturday at Connecticut College.
