MANCHESTER, N.H. – Junior setter Alex Tator (Los Angeles, Calif./Marlborough School) distributed a career-high 54 assists, the most by a Falcon in four years, and completed her seventh double-double with 12 digs as Bentley University posted a four-set victory over Saint Anselm College in Northeast-10 Conference women's volleyball Tuesday evening at Stoutenburgh Gym. Scores were 25-13, 29-27, 23-25 and 25-16.
Benefitting from those successful sets were sophomore Jaci Buscher (Lakewood, Colo./ Green Mountain HS) and juniors Savannah Dominguez (Miami, Fla./Palmer Trinity HS) and Tatiana Froehlich (Newton, Mass./Newton North HS), with the trio combining for 48 of Bentley's season-high 65 kills.
Buscher amassed 17 kills with 20 digs and three aces, Dominguez hit .571 with 16 kills and no errors in 28 swings, and Froehlich finished with 15 kills and 13 digs.
After seven kills by Buscher helped Bentley take the opening set, the Falcons faced a 20-15 deficit in the second before rallying. The Hawks were unsuccessful in three chances at set point and Bentley picked up the final three points, the first two on Buscher kills, to go up 2-0 in the match.
In the clinching fourth set, two kills and two blocks by Dominguez helped the Falcons jump out to a 6-1 lead and Saint Anselm was never able to catch up. Dominguez, who surpassed 500 career kills during the match, led Bentley with five blocks.
In each of the three set wins for Bentley, Tator contributed 15 assists. She was one of five Falcons to reach double-figures in digs with junior Lauren Colasanti (Northville, Mich./Northville HS) topping the list with 27.
Saint Anselm (7-17, 2-9 NE-10) was led by freshman Catherine Morgan (Farmington Hills, Mich.) with 18 kills and 14 digs.
Bentley, 14-8 overall and 8-2 NE-10, moved into a tie for second in the loss column in the Northeast-10 with Adelphi and Saint Rose. The Falcons will see Adelphi on Saturday when they host the Panthers in the final home game of the regular season at 1 pm.
