BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – In the first meeting of the two programs since the NCAA Division II East Regional semifinals last fall, the University of Bridgeport swept past Bentley University, 3-0, in non-conference women's volleyball action at the Hubbell Gym Friday night.

The 25-19, 25-14, 25-16 loss snapped the Falcons' winning streak at eight and dropped Bentley to 9-5 overall. Bridgeport has now won six in a row and is 9-6 overall.

The duo of senior Sarah Ross (Itajuba, Brazil) and junior Katarina Krstonosic (Kikinda, Serbia) powered the Purple Knight offense, combining for 27 kills and only six errors. Krstonosic hit .417 with 13 kilis and Ross had 14 with a .393 success rate. In contrast, Bentley managed only 22 kills as a team, hitting just .059.

Krstonosic completed her double-double with a team-best 14 digs. Bridgeport also received 38 assists from freshman setter Ellie Rich (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) and four aces and 13 digs from junior Amelie Guinci (Cannes, France).

Senior Jessica Segal (West Harrison, N.Y./Harrison HS) had 14 digs and three aces for Bentley, and classmate Jaci Buscher (Lakewood, Colo./Green Mountain HS) paced the Falcons with eight kills.

Both the second and third sets were tied at 9-9 before the Purple Knights took over, using 13-3 bursts to break open both.

Bentley is right back in action Saturday, hosting Franklin Pierce in a Northeast-10 Conference match at 1 pm.
