The Bentley University men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams will begin the championship portion of their season Thursday when the three-day Northeast-10 Conference Championships get underway at Southern Connecticut State University.

Bentley University junior Abby Mathews (Chelmsford/Chelmsford HS) and a pair of Falcon freshmen, Danielle Hellstern (Southbury, Conn./Pomperaug HS) and Josh Witty (Los Gatos, Calif./Los Gatos HS), have earned weekly recognition from the Northeast-10 Conference for their performance last Tuesday night against Bridgewater State University.

Senior Erik Stricker (Long Valley, N.J./West Morris Central HS), competing in his final career dual meet, and sophomore Steve Sylvia (Westerly, R.I./Westerly HS) were double-winners as the Bentley University men’s swimming team won 13 of 14 events en route to a 163-87 victory over Bridgewater State at Bridgewater’s Dr. Mary Jo Moriarty Pool Tuesday night.

Senior diver Mike Walsh (South Salem, N.Y./John Jay HS) and freshman freestyler Nadine Edwards (Danbury, Conn./Danbury HS) were recognized by the Northeast-10 Conference Monday following record-breaking performances on Saturday.

For the seventh time this winter, and the 16th time in his career, Bentley University senior Mike Walsh (South Salem, N.Y./John Jay HS) has been named the Men’s Diver of the Week in the Northeast-10 Conference.

Bentley University senior Mike Walsh (South Salem, N.Y./John Jay HS) won both diving events, setting a school record off the one-meter board in the process, but it wasn’t enough as the Falcons dropped a 171-118 decision to Keene State College in men’s swimming and diving action Saturday afternoon at the Dana Center pool.

A victory in the meet-ending 200 yard freestyle relay lifted Bentley University to its sixth win in seven dual meets this season, 126-108 over host Babson College Wednesday night in men’s college swimming and diving.

Bentley University swept the weekly men’s swimming awards from the Northeast-10 Conference with junior George Go (Manila, Philippines) the Swimming Athlete of the Week, senior Mike Walsh (South Salem, N.Y./John Jay HS) the Diver of the Week and freshman Josh Witty (Los Gatos, Calif./Los Gatos HS) the Rookie of the Week.

Bentley University completed the fall semester portion of the schedule undefeated by winning the first 14 events during a 145.5-113.5 victory over Norwich University in men’s college swimming Saturday afternoon at the Dana Center pool.

Senior Mike Walsh (South Salem, N.Y./John Jay HS) captured both diving events and junior George Go (Manila, Philippines) was victorious in the 100 yard backstroke to lead Bentley University during the Northeast-10 Invitational Sunday at the Dana Center.

– Bentley University sophomore Steve Sylvia (Weslerly, R.I./Westerly HS) has been named the Men’s Swimmer of the Week in the Northeast-10 Conference after his strong performance in dual meet victories against UMass-Dartmouth and St. Michael’s College. Three of his teammates also received weekly awards from the conference

Sophomore Steve Sylvia (Westerly, R.I./Westerly HS) and senior Eric Stricker (Long Valley, N.J./West Morris Central HS) each won two individual events as the Bentley University men’s swimming team cruised to a 114-97 win over St. Michael’s College Saturday night at the Dana Center.

Bentley University senior Mike Walsh (South Salem, N.Y./John Jay HS) and freshman Paige Wilde (Naugatuck, Conn./Holy Cross HS) have been named the Men’s and Women’s Diving Athletes of the Week in the Northeast-10 Conference after both qualified for the NCAA Division II Pre-Qualifying Meet during a dual meet with Gordon College Nov. 9.
