Bentley University hockey players Brett Gensler (St. Charles, Mo./Youngstown Phantoms) and Steve Weinstein (Los Angles, Calif./Vernon Vipers) have been voted to Atlantic Hockey All-Conference teams by the league’s head coaches, it was announced Tuesday.

Former Bentley University forward Brett Hartung (Tallahassee, Fla.) has signed a pro contract with the Orlando Solar Bears of the East Coast Hockey League, the team announced Thursday.

Forward Andrew Gladiuk (White Rock, B.C./Nanaimo Clippers) and defenseman Matt Blomquist (Blaine, Minn./Coulee Region Chill) of the Bentley University hockey team have been named to the 2012-13 Atlantic Hockey All-Rookie team as chosen by the league’s head coaches. The voting is based on the regular season.

Canisius College’s Cody Freeman scored both of his team’s goals, and junior goalie Tony Capobianco made 35 saves as the Golden Griffins eliminated Bentley University from the Atlantic Hockey Tournament Saturday night with a 2-1 victory in game two to sweep the first round series.

Canisius College scored three third period goals on its way to a 4-0 victory over Bentley University in game one of the Atlantic Hockey Tournament first round Friday night. Senior Preston Shupe had two goals to lead the Canisius offense.

The Atlantic Hockey Tournament gets underway this weekend with four first round, best-of-three series. The 10th-seeded Bentley University Falcons will take on the 7th-seeded Canisius College Golden Griffins in Buffalo, N.Y., beginning on Friday night with game one. Game two is Saturday night and game three, if necessary, is Sunday night. Each game begins at 7:05 pm.

AIC junior Blake Peake scored an empty-net, shorthanded goal with 1.3 seconds left in overtime to give the Yellow Jackets a 4-3 victory over Bentley University in the regular season finale. As a result, the Falcons will go on the road to Canisius next weekend for the first round of the Atlantic Hockey playoffs.

A night after scoring six goals against Sacred Heart in a thrilling 6-6 tie, Bentley University could only muster one goal in a 3-1 defeat to the Pioneers at the Milford Ice Pavilion in the finale of the team’s Atlantic Hockey series.

Staring down a 5-1 deficit early in the third period, Bentley University scored five unanswered goals in a span of less than 10 minutes to take a 6-5 lead, only to eventually settle for a 6-6 tie with Sacred Heart in a pulsating encounter at Ryan Skating Arena Friday night.

Bentley University held off Army in the third period Friday night to post a 5-3 victory over the Black Knights, and snap a five game losing skid in a hard-hitting affair at Ryan Arena. Five different players scored for the Falcons.

With three weekends left in the regular season, the race for seeding in the Atlantic Hockey playoffs is heating up. Bentley continues its push towards the postseason this weekend when they take on the Army Black Knights in a home-and-home series. The series opener is Friday night at Ryan Arena in Watertown, and Saturday’s game takes place at Tate Rink in West Point, N.Y.

UConn scored three times in just under a minute early in the first period Monday night on its way to a 9-0 victory over the Bentley University hockey team to complete the series sweep. Eight different players scored for the Huskies.

Junior Brant Harris scored a pair of third period goals as the UConn Huskies defeated Bentley University 4-1 Sunday night in Atlantic Hockey action at Ryan Arena. The Falcons have now dropped four straight games.
