Bentley University seniors Caitlin Fahey (Bridgewater/Coyle-Cassidy HS) and Amy Varsell (Burlington, Conn./Lewis S. Mills HS) will be headed to Pueblo, Colo. to participate in the 2013 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships, which will be hosted by Colorado State University-Pueblo at the Neta and Eddie DeRose Thunderbowl May 23-25.

For the fifth time during her impressive career, Bentley University senior All-America Amy Varsell (Burlington, Conn./Lewis S. Mills HS) earned All-New England honors, the latest coming with a strong performance in the 2013 New England Outdoor Track and Field Championships Saturday at Stonehill College’s W.B. Mason Stadium.

The Falcons’ top finisher on the women’s side also came in the 10,000, with junior Ashley Nichols (Kenmore, Wash./Inglemoor HS) ninth of 23 overall, and third among Division II runners. She finished in 39:39.16. Bentley’s only PR achieved Friday was posted by freshman Kendal Pratt (Topsfield/ Masconomet Reg. HS) in the 400 meters. She was seventh among Division II competitors and 22nd overall, but her time of 58.23 seconds vaulted her to number two on Bentley’s all-time list. It improved on her previous best by 1.28 seconds.

As they did Friday in the 1500 meters, Bentley University seniors Caitlin Fahey (Bridgewater/Coyle-Cassidy HS) and Amy Varsell (Burlington, Conn./Lewis S. Mills HS) were the first two across the finish line in the 800 meters Saturday during the final day of the 2013 Northeast-10 Conference Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Championships at American International College.

Mills HS) finished 1-2 in the 1500 meters Friday during the opening day of the Northeast-10 Conference Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Championships at American International College, with both breaking the meet record set by Varsell a year ago.

Thirteen members of the Bentley University men’s and women’s outdoor track and field teams are seeded in the top eight in at least one event for this weekend’s Northeast-10 Conference Championships, which will be contested at American International College in Springfield Friday and Saturday.

An outstanding senior year for Bentley Universtiy’s Caitlin Fahey (Bridgewater/Coyle-Cassidy HS) continued Sunday as she broke a school record while winning the 1500 meter run at the Brown Springtime Open.

Mills HS) each improved on their NCAA provisional qualifying times while finishing 1-2 in the 1500 meters during Friday night’s Stonehill Invitational in women’s track and field action at W.B. Mason Stadium.

On the women’s side, senior All-America Amy Varsell (Burlington, Conn./Lewis S. Mills HS) established a season-best in the 800, 2:20.46. That was good for 34th of 39 in a predominantly Division I field. Varsell also ran Friday night, provisionally qualifying for the NCAA Division II Championships in the 1500.

Bentley University senior Caitlin Fahey (Bridgewater/Coyle-Cassidy HS), following an impressive performance in the Raleigh Relays at North Carolina State, has been named the Northeast-10 Women’s Track Athlete of the Week. It’s the third time this year she’s been so honored, the previous two coming during the indoor season. Also recognized by the NE-10, as Men’s Relay Team of the Week, was the Falcon quartet of freshman Sean Nee (West Yarmouth/Dennis-Yarmouth Reg. HS), junior Conor Higgins (Randolph, N.J./ Randolph HS) and seniors John Drago (Avon, Conn./Avon HS) and senior Craig Robinson (Scarborough, Maine/Scarborough HS).
