COLCHESTER, Vt. - The fourth-seeded Saint Michael's women's
tennis team eliminated fifth-seeded Bentley University from the
Northeast-10 Tournament with a 5-0 win in the quarterfinals on
Wednesday afternoon.
Saint Michael's swept the doubles and used wins in the first two
singles flights to clinch the match. Senior Lindsay Horne topped
senior Kelly
Fleszar (Larchmont, N.Y./Ursuline School) in the
top-flight, 6-0, 6-2, and junior Deahna Giguere upended freshman
Paulina
Sotomayor (San Antonio, Texas/Ronald Reagan) in the
second-flight, 6-0, 6-0.
The Purple Knights improve to 12-7 and advance to the semifinals
on Friday where they will meet top-seeded Southern New Hampshire,
who beat eighth-seeded Merrimack 5-0. The Falcons fall to 10-9.
