St. Petersburg, Fla. – Despite two wins each from senior Cheryl Martin (Pittsfield, Mass./St. Joseph Central) and junior Brittany Harbert (Boxford, Mass./Masconomet), Bentley University fell to Eckerd 5-4 Sunday in non-conference women's tennis.
Martin and Harbert combined to beat Sonnet Ludwig and Christine Hammerschmidt 9-7 in number three doubles. Martin was then victorious in number four singles, 6-1, 6-3 over Hanna Segal. Harbert defeated Hammerschmidt 6-1, 6-4 in number five singles.
The other winners for Bentley were Kara Murphy (Worcester, Pa./Methacton) and Aimee Tetu (Brunswick, Maine/Brunswick) over Stephanie Jenks and Telara Buelow in number two doubles, 8-2.
Bentley continues its spring break trip on Monday with two matches; a Northeast-10 affair with Adelphi at 9:00 a.m. and at Florida Southern at 3:30 p.m.
