WALTHAM, Mass. – Three different players won both of their matches to lead the Bentley University women's tennis team to an 8-1 victory over Saint Anselm Saturday afternoon in Northeast-10 play.
The double winners for Bentley were juniors Kara Murphy (Worcester, Pa./Methacton) and Brittany Harbert (Boxford, Mass./Masconomet) and senior Cheryl Martin (Pittsfield, Mass./St. Joseph Central).
Murphy topped Alexandra Lawrence in number two singles 6-3, 6-1.Martin beat Alyssa Marciniak 6-1,6-0 in number four singles and Harbert defeated Katherine Morrissey 6-0, 6-2 in number five singles.
Murphy teamed with senior Aimee Tetu (Brunswick, Maine./Brunswick) to down Morrissey and Marciniak 8-2 in number two doubles, and Martin and Harbert combined to defeat Collen Kluberdanz and Amanda Brahm in number three doubles, 8-3.
The Falcons improve to 6-7 overall and 6-1 in the NE-10 with the victory. Their next match is Sunday at Saint Michael's at 10:00 a.m.
