Women's Tennis Gets the Best of AIC, 6-3

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Bentley University women's tennis team improved its Northeast-10 record to 6-1 on Tuesday with a 6-3 victory over AIC as three different players won in both singles and doubles.

The trio that won twice on the day was sophomore Melanie Scott (Southbury, Conn./Pomperaug), and freshmen Brittani Hetyei (Vernon, N.J./Vernon Township) and Melisa Kocarslan (Palos Verdes, Calif./Palos Verdes).

Scott and Kocarslan teamed to win their third-flight doubles match, 8-0 over Christine Bourett and Ally Trinier. While Hetyei and classmate Catherine Gianino (Burlington, Mass./Burlington) won in the second-flight, 8-0 over Martine Turgeon and Jessica Hall.

Though AIC took the first and second flight singles matches, Bentley won the other four. Scott topped Jasmine Byrd in the third-flight, 6-0, 6-0, Hetyei beat Turgeon 6-1, 6-0 in the fourth-flight and Kocarslan blanked Hall 6-0, 6-0 in the sixth-flight to give them each their second wins of the day. Bentley's other winner in singles was sophomore Stephania Adondakis (Salt Lake City, Utah/Waterford School) over Edna Olwo in the fifth-flight, 6-0, 6-0.

The Falcons return to action on April 3 when they host Simmons.
