Gianino & Hetyei Win in Doubles, But Bentley Falls to Saint Michael's 8-1

COLCESHTER, Vt. – Freshmen Catherine Gianino (Burlington, Mass./Burlington) and Brittani Hetyei (Vernon, N.J./Vernon Township) won in No. 3 doubles for the Falcons, but Saint Michael's took an 8-1 victory over the Bentley University women's tennis team in a Northeast-10 match Saturday afternoon.

The result snaps Bentley's three match winning streak, and is just its second NE-10 defeat of the season. They fall to 8-6 overall and 7-2 in conference matches. The Purple Knights have now won three straight and improve to 9-3 overall and 8-1 in the NE-10.

While Saint Michael's won the No. 1 and No. 2 doubles matches, Gianino and Hetyei defeated freshman Erica Bundrick and sophomore Caroline Toutoungi 9-7 in the No. 3 match.

Trailing 2-1 after doubles, Bentley could not make any headway in singles, though freshman Ludmila Yamus (Deer Park, N.Y./Half Hollow Hills) pushed senior Emily Magee to three sets in the No. 1 match before falling 6-4, 5-7, 10-7.

The Falcons will look to get back on the winning track when they host Stonehill on Tuesday.
