Bentley Scores 9-0 Victory over Saint Anselm

MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Bentley women's tennis team cruised to a 9-0 victory over Saint Anselm in a Northeast-10 match Friday afternoon to improve to 2-0 on the season.

The Falcons have yet to drop a match in two outings this season after upending Franklin Pierce 9-0 on Wednesday.

Winning all three doubles matches over the Hawks set the stage for an impressive display in singles, as four players won their match without dropping a single game. Sophomore Catherine Gianino (Burlington, Mass./Burlington), freshman Rachel Petrini (Madison, Conn./Daniel Hand), sophomore Brittani Hetyei (Vernon, N.J./Vernon Township) and freshman Susan Stowe (Hebron, Conn./RHAM) all won at love.

Gianino won 6-0, 6-0 in No. 2 singles, Petrini 6-0, 6-0 in No. 3 singles, Hetyei 8-0 in No. 4 singles and Stowe 8-0 in No. 5 singles. The other winners in singles were sophomore Ludmila Yamus (Deer Park, N.Y./Half Hollow Hills East) in the No. 1 spot by a score of 6-1, 6-4, and junior Melanie Scott (Southbury, Conn./Pomperaug) in the No. 6 spot, 8-3.

Bentley will now have to wait 12 days to try to extend its perfect start to the season, as they don't play again until Oct. 9 at New Haven.
