Adelphi Snaps Bentley's Winning Streak, 6-3

GARDEN CITY, N.Y. – Hosts Adelphi improved to 10-0 in Northeast-10 play with a 6-3 victory over the Bentley women's tennis team on Sunday afternoon, which snapped the Falcons' three-match winning streak.

Adelphi had a 2-1 advantage after doubles play by winning the No. 1 and No. 2 matches. The Panthers then captured four of six singles matches for the 6-3 final.

Bentley's team of Melanie Scott (Southbury, Conn./Pomperaug) and Lexie Hinrichs (Franklin, Mass./Ursuline Academy) won the No. 3 doubles match by a score of 8-1 over Adelphi's' team of Bianca Bernal and Maria Bruzon.

In singles, Bentley's winners were freshman Olivia von Oldenburg (Austin, Texas/Vandegrift) in the No. 5 match and sophomore Susan Stowe (Hebron, Conn./RHAM) in the No. 6 match. Von Oldenburg defeated Isabella Ramjeet 6-2, 6-2, and Stowe bested Bernal 6-0, 6-0.

The Falcons fall to 4-4 on the season in both NE-10 matches and overall. They next play Wednesday afternoon at home against Merrimack at 3:00 pm.
