Endicott Slips Past Bentley 5-4

WALTHAM, Mass. – Despite three wins in singles for the Falcons, Endicott College snuck past the Bentley University women's tennis team 5-4 on Sunday in a non-conference match.

Endicott took an early lead with victories in the No. 1 and No. 3 doubles matches. Catherine Gianino (Burlington, Mass./Burlington) and Olivia von Oldenburg (Austin, Texas/Vandegrift) teamed for an 8-6 victory in the No. 2 match to get Bentley on the board.

The teams split the singles matches. For the Falcons, junior Ludmila Yamus (Deer Park, N.Y./Half Hollow Hills) took a 6-2, 5-7, 6-2 victory in the No. 1 match. Sophomore Rachel Petrini (Madison, Conn./Daniel Hand) was a 6-1, 6-4 winner in the No. 4 match, and freshman Jill Kamphaus (Walpole, Mass./Ursuline Academy rallied for a 3-6, 6-0, 7-5 triumph in the No. 6 match.

Endicott improves to 13-2 overall, while the Falcons drop to 7-13. The team is back in action on Thursday when they visit Division I Holy Cross.
