Bentley Drops Northeast-10 Semifinal to Stonehill

EASTON, Mass. – Top seed Stonehill advanced to the finals of the Northeast-10 Women's Tennis Championship with a 5-0 victory over No. 4 seed Bentley University on Friday afternoon. The Falcons had advanced to the semis by defeating Merrimack in the quarterfinals on Wednesday.

The Skyhawks staked themselves to a huge lead at 3-0 by sweeping the doubles matches. They won the No. 3 and No. 6 singles matches to complete the victory.

Stonehill won the No. 1 doubles match 8-1, but Bentley hung tough in the No. 2 and No. 3 matches. Hannah Fabianski (Pawcatuck, Conn./Stonington HS) and Katie Brandow (East Northport, N.Y./Northport HS) dropped a tough match 8-6 in the No. 2 match, while Tiffany Suchanek (Waterville, Maine/Waterville HS) and Corrie MacLean (Trumbull, Conn./Trumbull HS) fell just short, 8-5 in the No. 3 match.

In singles, Stonehill won the No. 3 match 6-2, 6-0, and the No. 6 match 6-2, 6-0 as well.

Stonehill, which advanced to the finals for the third straight year, improved to 12-2 on the season. The Falcons finish the fall season with a 9-5 record.
