Stonehill Tops Bentley in Season Opener 7-2

EASTON, Mass. – In its season opening match, the Bentley women's tennis team was defeated by Northeast-10 rival Stonehill 7-2 on Friday night. The Falcons' wins came in No. 1 doubles from Rachel Petrini (Madison, Conn./Daniel Hand) and Katie Tynan (West Barnstable, Mass./Barnstable) and Susan Stowe (Hebron, Conn./RHAM) in No. 5 singles.

Senior co-captain Petrini and newcomer Tynan defeated the Skyhawks' team of Victoria Barbetta and Carolina Alvarez by an 8-5 score. Stonehill however, won the No. 2 and No. 3 matches to take a 2-1 lead into the singles matches.

In singles play, Stowe claimed a win in the No. 5 match over Annelise Howick 6-4, 1-0 (ret.).

Stonehill improved its record to 1-1 on the season, while the Falcons fell to 0-1. Bentley next plays its home-opener on Sunday against Franklin Pierce at noon.
