Strong Singles Play Helps Bentley Overcome Saint Michael's 6-3

 

COLCHESTER, Vt. – Bentley won five of six singles matches to overcome a 2-1 deficit from doubles to take a 6-3 victory over Saint Michael's on Wednesday up in Vermont.

The Falcons dominated in the top three singles matches. Hannah Fabianski (Pawcatuck, Conn./Stonington), Rachel Hui (Hong Kong) and Evann Welty (Wayzata, Minn./Mound Westonka) all cruised, playing in the No. 1-No. 3 matches, respectively.

Fabianski was a 6-0, 6-3 winner in the No. 1 match, Hui took the No. 2 match 6-0, 6-1 and Welty swept the No. 3 match, 6-0, 6-0.

Senior Katie Brandow (East Northport, N.Y./Northport) battled to a three set victory in the No. 4 match, 2-6, 6-2, 6-1. Senior Jill Kamphaus (Walpole, Mass/Ursuline Academy) claimed a 6-4, 6-3 triumph in the No. 6 match.

The win was the second in a row and third in four matches for the Falcons, who improved to 5-3 in Northeast-10 matches this season. They'll go for the three in a row on Saturday when they host AIC.
