Assumption Rides Doubles to Clip Bentley 5-4

 

WALTHAM, Mass. – Assumption rode a 3-0 advantage from doubles to a 5-4 victory over the Bentley University women's tennis team in a Northeast-10 match on Tuesday.

Bentley won four of six singles matches, but could not overcome its deficit from doubles.

Hannah Fabianski (Pawcatuck, Conn./Stonington) led Bentley's efforts in singles with a win in the No. 1 match, by a 7-5, 6-1. Freshman Evann Welty (Wayzata, Minn./Mound Westonka) continued her winning ways with a 6-4, 6-3 victory in the No. 3 match.

In the No. 4 match, Tiffany Suchanek (Waterville, Maine/Waterville) battled to a three set victory. After she took the first set 6-2, she dropped the second 6-1, but responded in a big way with a 10-5 victory in the third and final set to claim the point.

Senior Katie Brandow (East Northport, N.Y.Northport) claimed a 7-6, 6-4 victory in the No. 5 match for Bentley's fourth point of the day.

The Falcons drop to 6-3 overall and 3-3 in NE10 matches on the season. They'll be back in action on Friday at Saint Anselm.
