Softball Closes Out Regular Season with Sweep of AIC, 9-0 and 5-0

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley closed out the regular season with a pair of shutouts of AIC, 9-0 and 5-0. Riley Piromalli pitched game one and Maddie Pickett game two.

The Falcons finished the regular season 12-8 conference play and they will begin the NE10 playoffs on Tuesday against an opponent to be determined.

Piromalli threw her second shutout of the season in the game one win and the Falcon bats powered the team to a 9-0 win in five innings.

Maddie Baker and Jess Morrison both went 2-3 with two RBI and Jordan Krause went 2-3.

Bentley did its damage in the first inning with eight runs.

Baker had a two-run single to get it started and Kim Saunders singled in Baker to make it 3-0.

Grace Messina singled to right to score Saunders to make it 5-0. One batter later, Morrison tripled to right to score Messina and Hailey Feiler for a 7-0 lead.

Piromalli struck out five and allowed just three hits for her 12th win of the season.

In game two, Pickett recorded her first career shutout and seventh win of her freshman season. She struck out a season-high seven and allowed just two hits, a season-low for a game she started.

Messina gave Bentley a 1-0 lead in the 2nd inning with an RBI single that scored Carly DiMento.

Krause blasted her seventh homer of the season in the 3rd inning, a solo shot that made it 2-0. In the 5th, she drove in Messina with a single to left for a 3-0 lead.

In the 5th, Baker doubled to drive in Krause and Bella Burke.
