WALTHAM, Mass. – The Bentley softball team split Saturday's doubleheader, and thus split the weekend series, against Adelphi. The Panthers entered the weekend with a 20-2 Northeast 10 record, but the Falcons saw to it that Adelphi doubled up on its conference losses.

Bentley 1, Adelphi 6
The Panthers took a 6-0 lead through three innings, but
Sophie Jorjorian came out of the bullpen to quiet the Adelphi bats. Jorjorian pitched 4.2 shutout innings, yielding just four hits without issuing a walk. She struck out three batters.
Bentley didn't get on the board until the sixth inning.
Bella Burke reached base by hitting a one-out single. The next batter –
Michelle Diaz – clubbed a double to centerfield that allowed Burke to reach home.
Diaz, as well as
Becca Harris, went 2-for-3 in the game.

Bentley 7, Adelphi 2
Taylor Zajac pitched her second complete game in as many days – and her 11
th of the season – to help Bentley seal a series split against the Panthers. Zajac surrendered just five hits, and both of Adelphi's runs were unearned. Those unearned runs came in the first inning, but the Falcons quickly bounced back.
Ella Bunovsky hit a one-single in the bottom of the first inning, and she moved to third base when
Bella Burke hit a double. A groundout by
Michelle Diaz allowed Bunovsky to score without a throw home. A single by
Carly DiMento drove in Burke from third base. DiMento moved into scoring position on a wild pitch, and she touched home plate when
Becca Harris hit a single to give Bentley a 3-2 lead.
Bentley plated four runs in the fourth inning, all of which were scored with two outs. Â
Breelin McDougal hit a one-out single, and she moved into scoring position when
Alexa Gross laid down a sacrifice bunt. A single by
Jess Morrison scored McDougal to push the lead to 4-2.
Ella Bunovsky then reached on an error. She and Morrison both came in to score when Burke launched a double. Burke scored the final run of the rally when Diaz singled to right field.
Burke finished the game 3-for-4, and Harris went 3-for-3 at the dish. Diaz and Morrison both went 2-for-4.
The Falcons are back home Wednesday, April 22, to host Southern New Hampshire for two games starting at 2:30 p.m.
