PHILADELPHIA, Pa. -- Bentley University sophomores
Rachel Litton (Burlington, Ont./Nelson HS) and
Paulina Sotomayor (San Antonio, Texas/Ronald Reagan
HS) advanced to the semifinals of the "B"
Division doubles Saturday during the first day of women's
competition at the ITA East Regional, being played at the Arthur
Ashe Tennis Center.
Litton and Sotomayer disposed of a team from Georgian Court in
the first round, 8-0, and edged a duo from Goldey-Beacom in the
quarterfinals, 8-6.
Litton is also one of four Bentley players still alive in
"B" singles following an 8-2 victory over Kristen
Hetiler of C.W. Post in the first round.
Bentley also received first-round wins from senior Cheryl Martin
(Pittsfield, Mass./St. Joseph Central HS), junior Brittany
Herbert (Boxford, Mass./Masconomet Reg. HS) and senior
Aimee Tetu (Brunswick, Maine/Brunswick HS).
The tournament resumes Sunday morning.
